What a brilliant topic, I saw a lovely quote recently it said: “Cost of being a kind person = £0.00”

Well the reason we are talking about kindness is that next week is Mental Health Awareness Week and its theme is “kindness”.

So we would like to use the blog today to launch our Kindness Challenges for next week

There is one for each day - all focused around being kind to ourselves to support our own mental wellbeing and being kind to other people to support theirs

Challenge One- Let’s Talk (Positive and Honest Talking & Sharing is fantastic for our Mental Health)

Beautifully simple - just pick someone you haven’t spoken to for a while, but has been a good friend in the past, and give them a call…. More on Monday

If you want to you’ll be able to post on our Facebook page to say who you spoke to and how it went

Challenge Two - Let’s Eat (Good, fresh, healthy food is proven to have a positive effect on our physical and mental wellbeing)

A good meal can really lift your spirits and do great things for your mind and body!  Either make this for yourself or share it with someone close… More on Tuesday

You can post a picture of  your meal on our Facebook page - we will be so excited to see what you come up with.

Challenge Three- Let’s Move (Exercise is great for our body and boosts our mood)

We don’t want any injuries so please choose a gentle exercise option to just get yourself moving, either alone or with the other people who might be in your house.  If you’re feeling brave you could think about dancing and maybe doing a “TikTok”… More on Wednesday

We’d love to see some photographs or videos posted to our Facebook page

Challenge Four- Let’s Get Creative (Being creative helps us think and see differently, it can distract us from worry or help us find creative ways to express and deal with our distress)

Make, draw, write, paint.. whatever you want to do to represent “Kindness”…. More on Thursday

Yes - you guessed it - pictures to our Facebook Page please!

Challenge Five- Let’s Do Something Fabulous (Doing something kind for someone else is great for them and for you)

Get your thinking caps on - what could you do for someone else today, what act of kindness would be best appreciated and deserved.  It is a challenge in Lock Down but we know you can do it… More on Friday

And of course, please tell us what you did and what happened, if there are pictures as well, that would be great!

Now the final bit of the challenge is that if you have enjoyed the process and can afford it (please don’t give us money that you need for other things) then please make a donation via our Virgin Money page to help us keep reaching out and building a more connected, caring, creative and kind community for us.

Ok, well that’s us for today - so excited about next week.  See you Monday…..

Please let us know if there is anything you would like us to cover in future blog posts, but most of all Stay Safe Well, Kind, Connected and CREATIVE!

Please don’t go unless absolutely necessary (i.e. for food basics), keep a safe distance (2 meters) from the other people around (more if someone is running or cycling). Keep smiling, waving and talking. Wash hands and avoid touching faces when out and about.

Anything we can do to stop and slow the virus is keeping more of us safe and literally saving lives.

If you have symptoms, stay inside and contact 111 or the website to get more advice.

If you have any other health concerns please do call your doctors, they are still open and you are not “bothering” them if you need to speak about something going on for you right now.   COVID-19 is a terrible thing but other health problems are also a priority - call your GP and check it out!
